DNS leak

DNS leakage is the phenomenon where, despite the VPN connection, DNS queries (queries to convert domain names into IP addresses) are sent to another DNS resolver such as the internet provider without passing through the intended VPN protection path.

When a DNS leak occurs, the information about which domain name a user has requested may be passed on to an unknown operator. However, even if the DNS query is sent to a DNS resolver other than the VPN provider, that does not necessarily mean a DNS leak has occurred. This is because the VPN’s design and configuration differ depending on which DNS resolver is used.

To prevent DNS leaks, it is important to check the DNS protection features and settings of your VPN service and use a reliable DNS resolver if necessary.
